I believe this is Buckthorn wood. The local tree service cut down the tree when they were clearing a lot in Mitchell, SD for a construction project. This is a great partnership as I am able to rescue trees from the landfill.
It's a very dense wood, with exceptional figuring in the grain and nice feathering.
Finished in a high temp wax.
This one of a kind piece is a collectors item.
